More About the Maidenhead Area

Maidenhead is an excellent area to live in for many reasons. The A4 and A40 is just a short drive away no matter what part of Maidenhead you are in, as well as Maidenhead train station in the heart of the town which reaches places such as Reading and London in around 30 minutes, makes this an ideal place for commuters. The development of the new Crossrail called the Elizbeth Line which will be coming soon to Maidenhead making the commute even faster in the future.

In and around the main town centre there are excellent leisure facilities with great shops, restaurants, galleries, theatres and cinemas, health clubs and spas, and a thriving nightlife for anyone with energy.

Maidenhead also has a range of Primary and Secondary schools with offset ratings of good or outstanding, making this a great area for families with children who are looking for a great education.

As I enjoy water sports, I must say I LOVE Taplow Lake which is a short drive from Maidenhead town centre. They have a wide range of activities for most ages, my favourite is paddle boarding in the summertime and finishing the day in the café, which is on site, try their chips! Best around I would say.

Bolters Lock. What more do you want? Its great for a family day out, you can sit and watch the boats past by for hours. Out of hours when the lock is not maned, it’s great fun as you can open and close the lock yourself for boats on the river. There is a park too (Ray Mill Island) just behind the lock over the bridge, which has a play area for small children, a café for ice-creams and grass along the water for walking. There is a section of animal cages where you can see different types of bird and guinea pig.

Transport links for Maidenhead are so vast! You have the train line and soon the TFL line (Elizabeth Line) which is easy reach to so many places in the country. Fancy a day trip to London? No problem grab the train and you can be there in as little as an hour in the comfort of a seat and no traffic. Not a train person and prefer to drive like myself? Maidenhead has major trunk roads like the M4 and M40, again so easy to access.

What made me move to Maidenhead is that is such a family friendly area to be in. You have activities for any age, there is swimming, so many parks to choose from which are great for dog walking, the town centre is full of different places to eat. MY favourite place to eat would be Thai Orchard, located just by Maidenhead Bridge.
