Northwood News: Your Cheshire Market Update

Welcome to this week’s edition of Northwood News, your go-to source for the latest updates on the Cheshire property market. Whether you’re planning your next move or simply staying informed, we’ve got you covered.

The Property Market at a Glance

As we approach the final weeks of the year, the property market in Cheshire continues to show resilience, with steady demand across towns such as Macclesfield, Knutsford, Sandbach and Congleton.

In these areas, well-presented family homes are particularly sought after, with buyers prioritising properties offering good schools, transport links, and access to local amenities. Semi-rural homes near Macclesfield’s countryside and luxury properties in Knutsford have seen especially strong interest, while Sandbach remains popular with first-time buyers and young families.

Nationally, house prices have risen by a modest 0.5% over the past month, with Cheshire following this trend thanks to consistent demand. Properties promoted well by a proactive agent are selling steadily, with fewer delays and fewer price reductions compared to earlier in the year.

Mortage Market Update

The mortgage market has stabilised in recent weeks, providing clarity for buyers and homeowners alike:

  • Two-year fixed-rate mortgages average around 5.3%.
  • Five-year fixed deals remain competitive at approximately 4.8%.

Cheshire buyers can benefit from speaking to a local mortgage adviser familiar with lender requirements and opportunities specific to the area. With some lenders keen to meet their annual targets, attractive deals may still be available ahead of year-end.  At Northwood we offer free mortgage advice whether buying, selling or staying put. Selling Tip of the Week: Prioritise Kerb Appeal

First impressions matter, especially in Cheshire, where buyers are drawn to the charm of local architecture. Simple steps like refreshing exterior paintwork, tidying the garden, and adding seasonal touches can make your property stand out. These small efforts can significantly enhance your home’s appeal to potential buyers.

Spotlight: Why Winter Could Be the Perfect Time to Sell in Cheshire

Many sellers assume spring is the best time to list their property, but winter can provide unique advantages, particularly in Cheshire. Fewer homes on the market mean less competition, and serious buyers are often eager to complete their purchases quickly. With the festive season approaching, cosy interiors and thoughtful staging can help highlight the character and warmth of your home.
