Wall hangings can be made from a range of materials and are not only great for adding definition to your space but can also hide a multitude of sins. If you have a slightly uneven wall and don’t want to get it plastered, a wall hanging is the perfect solution.

Tapestries
Another option is the full wall tapestry. If you’re thinking of the Bayeux Tapestry, then think again. There are some brilliant designs out there which are suitable for areas like the bedroom and can add a sense of opulence to any space. These vary in size so you should easily be able to find one to suit almost any wall. Large tapestries can look overwhelming in small spaces, however, but if you have a big room with a relatively high ceiling they can look absolutely stunning.
Large Print Stencils
Another choice are the stencils that you can peel off and stick to your wall. These can look intriguing and eye catching and there are many outlets online that sell a range of interesting large print stencils, particularly for areas like the kitchen or the kids room. These include quirky messages and designs that can be layered over the normal paintwork.
The one thing you need to make sure of is that the wall is prepped properly – a flat, clean surface works best. If you are in any doubt, it’s always best to get a professional decorator to put them up for you.

You can also get large scale art works that can be put up like wallpaper. These can include forest scenes as well as abstract art which look really dramatic. Much depends on the size you choose. If you want to fill a large wall you need to be on top of your wallpapering skills but it can certainly create a stunning centre piece for any room.

You can find some exciting, unusual pieces of art that stand out on any wall. These are often made from wood and metal or other materials and, again, there is a lot of choice out there. These are great for areas where you want to create unusual textures and can also be brilliant ways to hide walls that are uneven.
Create Your Own Wall Art
Finally, while there is a great deal of choice in stores, you can also create your own works of art from things like family pics or your photographic hobby. Images can now be enlarged and framed, turned into canvas prints and even layered onto metal panels such as aluminium.
