Halloween Party Ideas

Halloween is a great time of year, whether you are a child or an adult. It’s fun to dress up, decorate your home and head out trick or treating. You could even take it one step further and throw a Halloween party to celebrate the spookiest time of year.

Want to have some Halloween party fun but not sure where to start? To help you on your way we have put together some Halloween party ideas for you to try:

Halloween Decorations

If you are feeling crafty and you want to dress your table in the most Halloween way possible, then spiderweb placemats are a must. These are really easy to make, all you need is some puffy paint available from Hobby Craft and some parchment paper. You need to create a web shape using the puffy paint on the paper and then let it dry overnight. Once set you can peel off the paper and you will be left with an amazing spiderweb placemat.

These Skeleton LED Lights from The Range are an illuminating idea (sorry) coupled with these lifelike human skulls from Joke.co.uk you now have a scary skeleton theme.

If you are looking for a real hair-raiser these Life-size and Animated Halloween Props from Party Delights are enough to make anyone jump!

Spider ice cubes

This is a particularly easy idea to do, but it is still effective. All you need is some small (clean) plastic spiders like these from Amazon and an ice cube tray. Pop a couple of spiders into each compartment of the ice cube tray and then pop in some water. Once they are frozen these ice cubes are going to look amazing in drinks and will definitely make your guests smile. Be careful these can cause a choking hazard, do not serve to children!

Children’s Halloween Drinks

For fast but effective children’s Halloween drinks, add green food colouring to a mix of lemonade and orange juice to create a Witch’s Brew. For a super healthy drink try one of these Green Smoothie ideas from 100daysofrealfood.com the consistency and colour will match your Halloween theme and it is a great way to sneak some vitamins into your children’s diet!

Adult Halloween Drinks

If you are having a grown-up Halloween party then chances are that you are going to want to find great ways to serve up your drinks. For smaller shots, a fun idea that we have seen is to serve them up in syringes. This particularly works well if they are red in their colour (or can be made red with Grenadine if they are clear). Check out this cocktail recipe from selfproclaimedfoodie.com for a Spooktacular syringe cocktail idea. Please drink responsibly!

Cook up some spooky treats

It’s not a Halloween party without some spook-tastic treats. There are a variety of cakes, sweets and biscuits in the shops. If you want some unique Halloween snack ideas, here are a few for you to try:

Scary Savoury Snacks

These pumpkin sushi rice balls from Tesco are so effective and easy to create – don’t they look yummy?

A very quick to make savoury snack, these Halloween Hot Dog Fingers will satisfy even the most ravenous of Zombies!

Spice things up with these Halloween Jalapeño Poppers from FoodInstructions.com another simple but super effective recipe!

Spooky Sweet Treats

A little more intricate but incredibly effective, these Eerie Eyeball Pop Cakes from BBCGoodFood.com look almost too gory to eat!

Lyle Golden Syrup have a wonderful recipe twist on the traditional toffee apple, a simple recipe but watch out for the hot caramel!

Delicious and oh so naughty  these Strawberry Scareberry Ghosts will make you wish Halloween came around more often!

Halloween games

When it comes to Halloween party games there are the more traditional choices such as bobbing for apples, here are a few extra spooky games:

How about a Halloween Scavenger Hunt? Set up clues all over the house and have a pile of terrific treats at the end.

Mummy Wrap. For this game you need 12x toilet rolls, two adults and an equal number of children on each team. Give each team 6x toilet rolls, the aim of this game is for the children to wrap the adult up in toilet roll to create a mummy. It is helpful if you play a piece of music so that the game end coincides with the song ending.

Can I Pick Your Brains? For this game cook and completely cool different pasta shapes, spaghetti works well as does shells. Place in a large bowl with some olives, then add wrapped sweets, lollies and treat sized chocolates. Cover the bowl with multiple layers of clingfilm and a piece of material so that the contents cannot be seen. Finally cut a slit in the film and material just big enough to fit a hand through. Let participants take it in turn to dig around in the “Brains” until they nab a sweet treat!

There are so many amazing ways to create a truly terrifying Halloween party. Whether it’s the food that you serve, the games that you play or the decorations that you put up. With some careful thought and a little bit of creativity you can make sure that your Halloween party is all treat and no trick.
