Midges, drizzle, midges, hills and oh, did we mention midges? – nevertheless, none of these could dampen the spirits of our team as we journeyed to Loch Muick and Lochnagar last week. We were in good company with the TaxAssist Aberdeen team, as well as Oyin from O’Caykes and Graham of Aberdeen Leaflet Delivery amongst plenty more welcome walkers and their four-legged friends. The purpose behind our adventure was much more than a good chat in the fresh outdoors – it was to raise funds and awareness for CLAN Cancer Support, a local charity that holds a special place in our hearts.
Our Fundraising Trek’s Impact
Despite the drizzle, we laced up our hiking boots and set out on a trek that symbolised solidarity and a shared commitment to making a positive impact in our local community. The goal was simple: to walk in support of those affected by cancer and to raise funds that would contribute to CLAN Cancer Support’s essential work. With hubs in Aberdeen, Banchory, Mintlaw, Turriff and Ellon, they provide emotional support & counselling to those affected by a cancer diagnosis. They also offer complementary therapies, nutrition & wellbeing support, Clan Haven accommodation and cancer support groups. A truly incredible charity here in the North East, and we are delighted to have raised over £7,500 for the cause. If you’d like to help us raise even more money, you can do so via our JustGiving page.
Embracing Nature’s Trials – Reflections on a Hiking Adventure
With much of the time spent with our mouths shut (you guessed it…midges), it gave us a great chance to be fully present in nature. We reflected on the natural challenges and moments of triumph with each step, and basked in gratitude at our surroundings and abilities – however tough the climb was. We tucked into a hearty curry in Ballater before heading home for a steep in the bath and an early night!
Along with TaxAssist Aberdeen, we are proud sponsors of Mighty Munro, one of the forty hares in Clan Cancer Support’s #TheBigHopTrail2023. Aptly named, the hare has stolen our hearts. Find out more about how Mighty Munro and the fantastic local artist, Louise Kirby.
Thank you to everyone who participated on the day and who has donated to help us raise money for these essential services provided by Clan. We’re so grateful for all donations. If you’d like to contribute to our fundraiser, here is the link to our JustGiving page.
It’s amazing what we can accomplish when likeminded folk come together and encourage one another.
