15 for 15 is our celebratory milestone as we reach our fifteenth year of business in the North East property markets, and we pledge our service to fifteen incredible charities and organisations who tirelessly help those in need within the communities we work in.
Somebody Cares – A Helping Hand for Those in Challenging Times
To kickstart this initiative, we will assist Somebody Cares (SCIO) who support those within Aberdeen city and shire whom, for various reasons, are facing challenging times. They strive to improve lives, alleviate poverty and provide second chances.
Somebody Cares places great emphasis on ensuring that every client is treated with dignity and respect, understanding that many reach out for their services whilst at their lowest points. They support individuals and families with a wide range of issues including addiction, cuckooing, domestic violence or mounting debt. Those with mental, physical and life limiting illnesses, asylum seekers, ex-offenders, young mums, and teenagers who have been thrown out of the family home. Whatever the challenge, Somebody Cares listens, adapts and reacts with a tailored solution to help clients leave feeling encouraged and with a weight lifted off their shoulders.
Laura Mearns, Founder & Director said, “Somebody Cares is a beacon of light to those who need it. The team are so open-hearted and supportive, and it’s a privilege to offer our helping hands in a way that works for the charity. We were particularly struck by the proactive steps to offer second chances for those in need, whether furnishing a new home, providing re-integration or demonstrating empathy and building a sense of empowerment to move on and make a fresh start”.
Closing Offices for a Day of Giving Back
Closing our offices, we’ll spend the day in the HQ at Bridge of Don to help sort donations – including clothes, toys, homeware and food for the food bank – tidying and restocking the store and warehouse.
15 for 15 was created by the need to give back to our communities and each charity has been chosen by the team at Northwood. “We’ve put a lot of care and thought into this initiative – and shed a few tears whilst meeting with the truly inspirational charity ambassadors! – and we’re over the moon that we have this opportunity to help in a meaningful, practical way. Many of the team have caregiving responsibilities so volunteering can be difficult outside of work, so this generous offer from Laura & Matt is fantastic, and we’re all very grateful!”, Juliet, Lettings Manager.
