In January, we launched our 15×15 efforts. Marking our 15th year in business by supporting at least 15 charities in Aberdeen city and shire.
Last month, we had a great day at the Somebody Cares store in Bridge of Don. We sorted through donations, pricing and displaying goods, all proceeds of which are used to fund their efforts in helping vulnerable people and families get back on their feet.
On 20th February, we’re closing our offices to help the team at Home-Start.
The highs and lows of parenting
Within our team, 9 of our 12 are parents (even a few grandparents too!) and others have nieces, nephews and wee pals. We know the highs and lows of parenting, and just how lonely, frustrating, overwhelming and heart-breaking it can be.
Home-Start’s expert staff and trained volunteers work alongside families of young children (under 5) to offer non-judgmental, compassionate and confidential support. Building parents up with support and confidence, they empower carers to become the best versions of themselves.
They provide life skills such as cooking and money management, individual and group support, mental health, combatting isolation, coping strategies and advice for disability and illness, and support during a relationship breakdown. They even provide support for families of twins, triplets and multiple children and those in the forces.
Supporting families in Aberdeen city
Maureen, receptionist said, “Spending a day helping our community is such a fulfilling experience, I’m really looking forward to our day with Home Start. We’ll be lending a hand as the team plan an exciting new move, helping them sort through donations and condensing their stock so each item available is of high quality. We also have team members who will be driving around various areas in Aberdeen to collect pre-loved donations.”
